Description and Requirements

Lenovo Workstations provide powerful solutions to drive productivity, innovation, and design excellence in key vertical segments such as Manufacturing Design, Engineering & CAD, Animation/Media/Web Creation, Science/Medical, Oil & Gas, and Finance. 

To maintain our leadership and compete in this aggressive marketplace, we are seeking to enhance our team with a System Architect. Responsibilities include architecting innovative workstation designs, engaging with vendors and suppliers on product/technology roadmaps, oversight of development and validation of workstations and sub-systems. Other responsibilities include engaging with Product Management and customers on defining product features. It will require leadership and assimilating all the design aspects holistically at a system level. Beyond the technical aspects of this role, your leadership and communications skills will be crucial when engaging internal cross-functional teams and especially end customers on discussing technical issues and providing solutions.

For this role you will be working with a combination of HW/SW architects to create best of class workstations that provide optimal performance while managing cost and design constraints.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering/Science, or equivalent
  • Work with vendors and Workstation Strategy Team on future technology and implementation
  • Engage with Product Management team and author Product Requirements for development
  • 15+ years experience with hardware design and architecture
  • Experience with hardware development cycle
  • Holistic view of system architecture including: electrical, thermal, and mechanical disciplines
  • Deep understanding of PC architecture, storage architecture, network architecture, GPU architecture, and general I/O
  • System optimization for cost competitiveness
  • Willingness to travel (~10%)

Preferred Requirements:

  • Strong leadership skills to influence and support the direction of the team to achieve set goals
  • Ability to brainstorming and innovate
  • Ability to distill complex problems into simple charts for presentation
  • Working knowledge of embedded controllers and FW
  • Working knowledge of software stack
  • Working knowledge of standards compliance testing, e.g., safety, CE, environmental, etc.
  • Results oriented in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Positive professional attitude with flexibility

This role will be based in our North American HQ in Raleigh, NC. All candidates need to be local to the Raleigh area or open to relocation. Lenovo North America has transitioned to a hybrid work environment at least three days a week in-office with the flexibility option of working up to two days a week remotely.
