About Our Team

This engineering role is a key component of Lenovo's new product introduction within the ISG (Infrastructure Solutions Group) development team. 


What You'll Do

This role will validate each new product’s CPUs, Memory, PCIe, Network, and Storage performance on the next generation x86 two-socket Intel based servers. Individuals in this role will utilize leading edge tools to measure and evaluate low level server performance and provide performance related collateral for development, marketing teams and work closely with the team’s peer performance benchmarking team to optimize server performance to achieve World Record performance benchmarks.

Lenovo SPV (System Performance Validation) engineers will be responsible for identifying, reporting, and tracking defects throughout the development process and drive identified problems to resolution. 

The day-to-day activities will include configuring server hardware and creating scripts to automate benchmarking tools to increase efficiency and aid in the performance evaluation of new server products. Individuals in this role are expected to provide technical expertise in support of pre-sales and sales, along with customer engagements.



Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering/Computer Information Systems
  • Strong desire to learn and engage with a team of highly motivated engineers to identify and deliver servers that outperform the competition
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for a variety of tasks, including customer engagements in response to performance related inquiries
  • Desire to work cooperatively with other Lenovo functional teams when engaged
  • An applied knowledge of x86 computer architecture Intel and AMD
  • Hands on experience with x86 CPUs and Memory with the ability and experience to swap hardware components
  • Must be self-motivated with an ability to work self-directed with minimal guidance
  • Ability to create / develop collateral that can be leverage by Marketing and Sales to explain product’s performance
  • Willingness to collaborating on projects across globally diverse functional teams and travel domestically and internationally if required
  • Experience with debugging system level hardware issues, opening and driving defects across functional teams to resolution and closure
  • Work cooperatively with other Lenovo functional teams when engaging with external customer in response to performance related inquiries.
  • Familiarity with performance test methodology and other hardware test methods

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of directly related hardware engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience in x86 system architecture; server design experience is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience installing and configuring server hardware and software
  • An applied knowledge of Linux-based operating system i.e., RedHat, Suse, Ubunto, and CentOS -- Linux related certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in scripting (BASH/Perl/Python and Windows Power Shell) to enable automated execution of tasks.
  • Knowledge of Nvidia, FPGA, and ARM based technologies a plus
