Description and Requirements
Location: Morrisville, NC, USA
The Manufacturing Test Strategy and Automation team based in Morrisville NC is responsible for delivering a test platform and test solutions to support Lenovo Server, Storage and Networking products. As our product portfolio and customer base evolves and grows into new strategic areas, we have an opening for a Test Engineer to support our manufacturing operations by providing test solutions and utilities for our products. This role will have a focus on providing high levels of test coverage and process automation as well as data collection to enable process monitoring and improvement.
As a Test Engineer you will be responsible for the definition, design, development and management of common test code and utilities that make up the test process for products manufactured by Lenovo. Job duties include: designing, implementing, validating, and maintaining processes and code for testing products at server node, enclosure and rack level. In addition to developing test scripts, you will be responsible for integrating these solutions into the test platform application as common code modules.
You will also work with product Hardware and Software Development Engineers and external partners to build custom processes as required to test unique content. Tactically, you must be ready to react to any production issues as they arise and provide support for our worldwide manufacturing sites. Strategically, you will be constantly looking for ways to optimize and improve the overall process for manufacturing efficiency.
Lenovo has manufacturing facilities in China, Hungary, Mexico and Brazil and the expectation is that travel to these sites would be required as part of this role.
HYBRID - This position will include work from our Morrisville campus as well as work from home each week.
Responsible Tasks include:-
- Interfacing with product development and partner teams to establish test requirements for products and solutions.
- Design and manage manufacturing test processes for products
- Develop automated scripts and software for product test and ensure it is compatible with our manufacturing test platform
- Interface with multiple fulfilment sites to enable and manage product fulfilment processes and successful product delivery
- Participate in product code reviews
- Open and manage product defects that impact fulfilment
- Provide Level3 production support for WW fulfilment sites
- Issue regular status reports to Customer Account and WW Engineering teams.
- Root cause analysis, product debug, and problem resolution
- Interface with fulfilment and manufacturing sites to provide critical order management support
- Manage and optimize cycle time to drive manufacturing efficiencies
Basic Requirements:
- BS or equivalent Degree in Engineering (Computer Engineering, Computer Science, etc)
- Extensive scripting experience with Python (3.x preferred), Java and Rest API
- Experience with code versioning and tracking systems (CVS, git, SVN)
- Experience with servers and data center technologies
- Experience with manufacturing test process development and deployment
- Self-motivated team player
- Able to apply engineering concepts
- Effective communicator
- Experience with root cause analysis & problem resolution
- Travel to manufacturing and customer sites is expected
- English Skills preferred
