Microsoft Windows OS Enablement Engineer

Job Description:

The Lenovo OS Technology and Enablement Team is seeking an experienced advisory software engineer for development, test, and integration of Microsoft operating systems and cloud platforms on Lenovo servers and storage. The candidate will be involved in the end to end development, test and integration of new and existing Microsoft Windows Server versions on the latest cutting edge x86 server hardware.  The candidate will work closely with both the Microsoft and Lenovo solution development and test organizations to develop the initial platform architecture and software stack, and ensure product readiness through timely defect resolution and communication to the broader Lenovo development organization.

The candidate is expected to have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Powershell along with experience with Windows Server based management. The candidate is also expected to have in depth knowledge of x86 server hardware and firmware, and good familiarity with storage technologies, and firmware development.

Skills Required:

Candidates must be able to install and configure server hardware, and be very familiar with the Windows internals and OS architecture.

Candidate should have working knowledge in following areas:

  • Computer architecture knowledge (Cache/memory hierarchy, processors, HBAs, GPUs, etc.)
  • Firmware dev/test experience, including UEFI/BIOS , BMC controllers, etc
  • Windows kernel internals, including Windows driver model (WDDM)
  • Windows kernel debugging
  • Working knowledge of Powershell, and ideally skills in python, C#, etc.
  • System management software experience (System Center, WAC)
  • Experience with Storage spaces direct or other hyperconverged systems
  • Self-motivated and passionate about Server and virtualization technologies
  • Excellent communication skills

Candidate should be motivated, and passionate about working with the latest Microsoft and x86 server technology.

Excellent written and oral communications is required. Strong teamwork is essential. Experience working as part of a broader, global team preferred.

Education/ Experience:

BS in Computer Engineering or Computer Science, with at least 5 years experience in or at least 10+ years of related industry experience and significant accomplishment. Firmware /driver development experience highly preferred
