The Lenovo Workstation Architecture team is responsible for the design and development of next generation high-end client desktop workstations, as well as software solutions tailored around maximizing our customers’ user experience and productivity.   This position is for a Workstation Mechanical Engineer intern.  responsibilities will include working with Mechanical Architect and Engineering teams on enclosure and feature design for high end desktop workstation computers. Tasks will include drafting/modeling through the use of SW applications such as Solidworks or Creo, simulation through the use of application such as Ansys, as well as physical model prototyping and testing.   Additional job activities will consist of working with the team of hardware architects to explore new industry concepts which we may offer, validate new design solutions for applicability in the workstation space, and debug mechanical and thermal issues that arise through the development phase.   Most tasks will center around working with the overall workstation PC or its peripherals, but opportunities may arise to explore tasks in specific engineering disciplines (thermal, electrical, programming) as well.

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Mechanical Engineering Major (working towards B.S. or M.S degree) 
  • 3.0 or higher GPA

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with PC Hardware (building, configuring, debugging problems)
  • Experience with design/drafting SW such as Solidworks or Creo
  • Strong problem solving skills and engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to work/think independently, yet also work well in a team setting and take direction from others
  • Good organizational and communication skills
