 Job Description:

Motorola Mobility is seeking an experienced Advisory Systems Architect to join our team in Chicago. This role is pivotal in guiding the development of cutting-edge Android-based systems, focusing on Android compliance, proper abstraction, performance optimization, and overall system architecture best practices. A key aspect of the role involves staying abreast of competitive industry trends, AI advancements, and Android specification updates to drive innovation and maintain our competitive edge. You will play a crucial role in shaping Motorola Mobility’s mobile ecosystem, ensuring high standards of innovation, compliance, and reliability across all software development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technological Vision and Innovation. Research and monitor industry trends, especially in AI and Android advancements, to enhance software solutions aligned with Motorola Mobility’s strategic objectives. Advise on integrating emerging AI technologies into Android systems from a systems integration and resource management perspective. Align architectural vision with current organizational needs while anticipating future technological shifts.

  • Architectural Oversight. Review and guide the design of high-performance architectures for Android systems, ensuring proper abstraction, scalability, and compliance with the latest Android standards. Recommend frameworks that support advanced functionalities, including AI capabilities, to facilitate flexible product iterations. Optimize system resources and performance through effective integration of AI components.

  • Cross-Platform Ecosystems. Advise on developing robust cross-device and multi-platform solutions, including IoT and cloud integrations, to ensure seamless connectivity and interoperability. Define cohesive architectures that support current and future platform expansions, leveraging the latest industry advancements.

  • System Performance and Compliance. Evaluate system designs to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and user experience by applying best practices in memory and performance optimization. Ensure all solutions comply with Android standards and regulatory requirements, effectively integrating AI functionalities without compromising user experience or system resources.

  • Development of Best Practices. Lead the creation and implementation of new best practices to enhance development efficiencies across the company. Promote standardization and efficiency improvements in development processes to accelerate innovation and reduce time-to-market.

  • Strategic Collaboration and Influence. Collaborate with leadership, engineering teams, and external stakeholders to align technical strategies with business goals. Foster engagement across teams to promote adherence to best practices and a shared vision for next-generation mobile solutions.

  • Mentorship and Team Development. Mentor engineering teams, providing guidance on proper abstraction, compliance, optimization techniques, and AI technology integration. Cultivate an environment of continuous learning, encouraging teams to stay updated on industry and technological advancements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in software development within the mobile or related industries.

  • Strong expertise in system architecture and engineering, with a focus on Android-based systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in AI technologies, user experience design, and data management, with a demonstrated ability to apply these skills within a scalable architecture.

  • Deep expertise in software abstraction principles, memory management, and performance optimization techniques.

  • Proven ability to stay current with competitive trends, industry developments, and technological advancements.

  • Proficiency with project management and quality assurance methodologies, ensuring solutions meet high standards in reliability, security, and performance.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of inspiring cross-functional teams and driving impactful innovation.
