Job Description for Data Engineer

About Our Team

Lenovo is looking for a Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team. We are creating a modern data platform that collects data from all Lenovo business areas and provides a near real-time single source of truth that enables a consistent answer/data every time. Our objective is the right data for the right action at the right time!

The team is responsible for implementing, enhancing, and operating key business systems as well as integrating those systems with our data platform.

An ideal candidate understands the nature of critical business applications, the capabilities of those systems, and what they provide to a holistic back-office ecosystem. They will have an effective combination of business acumen and technical skills, a passion for learning, and a solid computer science foundation.

Position Summary

We're looking for a talented Data Engineer to join our rapidly growing company. The right person has deep experience in developing and administering large-scale data integration, data processing, and data analytics databases and platforms.

In this role, you will help design, you will work with technical leadership to help establish development standards and drive projects overall technical architecture, engineering practices, and methodologies. You will tackle our hardest problems, building high quality, architecturally sound systems that are aligned with our business needs. Your expertise is deep and broad, and you are hands-on, producing both detailed technical work and high-level architectural designs.

Responsibilities and Skills
 

  • Design and implement large scale metadata management and business analytics solutions at a detailed level by applying industry knowledge, best practices, and architectural guidance to ensure system functionality, performance, and cost efficiencies
  • Closely work with product, architects, business analyst, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, build, automate, and deploy key business metrics
  • Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for internal users and customers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with others toward the same outcome to drive results

Qualifications

• Bachelors/master’s degree in computer science, Mathematics or Science.
• Experience with ETL development and coding including validation complex data mappings.
• Experience with ETL Tool Talend minimum 4 years.
• Experience in at least 4 years of SQL to have ability to write sql queries for data validation.
• Experience with databases like snowflake, Mysql, BIG Query, SQL SERVER, Hive
• Experience working in Agile Scrum environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
