Description and Requirements

We are hiring a Global Commodity Manager to work within the Data Center Group! Lenovo's Data Center Group is innovating the future-defined data center, today. From the simplest to the most complex IT environments for all types of workloads, our servers, storage, networking and solutions help maximize the potential of data centers.

In this exciting position you will be part of Lenovo’s DCG Procurement team responsible for managing Lenovo’s portfolio of data center alliances and suppliers. The Global Commodity Manager (“GCM”) position is responsible for interfacing with Lenovo cross functional teams to understand their requirements and selecting, negotiating, contracting and managing the supplier relationships.

Responsibilities:

·       Collaborate with Engineering & Product Management teams to develop commodity sourcing strategy.

·       Participate as a senior member on a cross-functional team (may lead specific projects)

·       Meet with Stakeholder managers to understand business priorities and translate them into procurement plans.

·       Conduct regular business review with suppliers to ensure continuous improvement on scorecard performance

·       Execute risk mitigation, business continuity, cost management, and operation strategies.

·       Drive alignment between Supplier roadmaps and Lenovo’s product roadmaps

·       Identify opportunities for supply chain optimization and implements as appropriate.

·       Identify potential suppliers that provide relevant technology for products.

·       Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings optimization

·       Develop and maintain relationships with executives and senior executives at suppliers

·       Track new technology development for assigned products/suppliers.

·       Work closely with our Engineering teams to support product development efforts, to influence sourcing decisions, meet customer expectations, technical capabilities, and program objectives.

·       Work closely with Engineering to define standard and custom product requirements.

·       Manage overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, cost, and quality improvements.

·       Deliver periodic executive business review of commodity sourcing strategy, considering the industry landscape, supplier capabilities, scale and performance, product and technical roadmaps and strategic business objectives.


Basic Qualifications:

•         Bachelor's degree or higher.

•         5+ years of experience in high-tech manufacturing, consumer electronics, and supply chain

•         Strong leadership skills and ability to perform a leadership role with cross-functional peers.

•         Ability to solve problems and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

•         Ability to develop efficient work processes for complex projects involving many groups, across multiple geographies and effectively coordinate, implement, and maintain those processes

•         Strong analytical skills (i.e. c, quotation analysis, supplier selection).

•         Strong understanding of procurement processes, industry, and suppliers.

•         Strong business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint) and supply chain modeling skills.

•         Proficiency in English as a major language in daily communications.

Preferred Requirements:

•         Direct sourcing experience in Ethernet/RAID/Networking/Storage products is highly preferred.

•         Strong understanding of industry, supplier complexity and global sourcing processes.

•         Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

•         Strong ability to develop sourcing and supplier management strategies.

•         Ability to close complex issues in a timely manner.
