Description and Requirements
Lenovo’s global Corporate Communications team is responsible for managing, building, and protecting the company’s corporate reputation as related to key corporate affairs matters and issues and crisis management.
As the Global Corporate Communications Manager you will work across global projects and remit but with a particular focus on the North American market which encompasses one of Lenovo’s two headquarter locations. You will work across multiple teams, including government relations, investor relations, legal, global ESG, and US-based global media and key external stakeholders (policymakers, regulatory agencies, NGOs) to solidify and strengthen Lenovo’s relationships, drive positive exposure as well as strategic business results.
The role reports into the team headed up by the Vice President of Global Corporate Communications (based in the UK) and will be part of a larger extended team of 100+ communications professionals around the world.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies and plans to build Lenovo’s corporate reputation with key stakeholders.
- Work with high-profile global business media based in the US time zone on both proactive and reactive media opportunities, including preparing briefing materials and coaching spokespeople.
- Develop various corporate materials, including messaging, press releases, reactive talking points, social media content, speeches, etc.
- Analyze and monitor the political and media landscape and sentiment in order to identify opportunities and risks for Lenovo storytelling.
- Identify speaking and partnership opportunities that help raise Lenovo’s global profile and implement programs accordingly.
- Work with communications leadership to prepare a comprehensive crisis communications plan.
- Collaborate with C-level executives, key business stakeholders, and colleagues around the world to counsel leadership as well as manage complex and sensitive topics.
- Stay up to date on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
- Be able to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced, and matrixed environment.
Basic Qualifications
- 8-10 years of agency or in-house corporate PR experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or greater.
- Fluent English Speaker and Writer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working either in-house in a global PR/communications team or in an agency on global client briefs in the technology sector, or as a journalist for a business or technology media outlet.
- Demonstrated experience working on complex and sensitive corporate issues for a global organization.
- Clear evidence of strong relationships with media and associated press coverage results.
- Demonstrated success working in a global or complex organizational structure, working with multiple stakeholders across different regions.
- Be confident in building trust and strong relationships with the most senior leaders and combine the skills of a strategic advisor with those of a hands-on practitioner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences and translate complex technical topics (e.g., artificial intelligence) into clear and engaging content.
- Sense of discretion regarding confidentiality and handling of sensitive information with care.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all communications.
- Bring global experience and mindset, gained through either living, studying, or working in a multi-cultural environment.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Public affairs/government relations experience is desired.
The base salary budgeted range for this position is $103-135k. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission. The role can be based at Lenovo’s offices on the East Coast of the US (Morrisville, NC, Chicago, IL, Washington, DC) or New York.
