Description and Requirements

This position is to work as a researcher in a team of PC Innovation and Ecosystem (PCIE) Lab, LR Yokohama whose research focus is Human Computer Interaction (HCI), conduct research work in AI and Computer Vision fields, and develop innovate technologies for smart devices and services.

We are looking for a passionate researcher who is highly motivated to create something new (i.e., new technology, new feature, new concept, new user experience). The candidate should have R&D background (either in a university or in a company), and have research experience of AI and Computer Vision, specifically Large Language Model (LMM), Deep Learning and Machining Learning.

Role and Responsibility

  • Work on research projects in PCIE Lab as team member.
  • Develop Proof-of-Concept (PoC) prototypes to demonstrate their potential and value.
  • Develop algorithms and models to advance AI capabilities.
  • Optimize and finetune AI models to meet requirements.
  • Collaborate with contracted engineers to integrate AI technologies into systems and product platforms.
  • Conduct performance testing and user testing.
  • Report research status to project manager.
  • Investigate academic papers and industrial articles for latest AI studies.
  • Make inventions for patent application.
  • Communicate and work with other LR teams in China and US in cross-team collaboration.
  • Collaborate with Business Units (BUs) and transfer developed technologies as need arises.

Skill, Competency (must have)

  • Basic and advanced computer vision algorithm design
  • Experience with OpenCV/GL and other computer vision libraries
  • Experience of AI model deployment (LLMs, e.g., LLaMA, GPT4, and Generative AI model, e.g., DALL-E3)
  • Proficient programming skills in Python, C++, Java
  • Japanese communication skills
  • Written communication skills in business English for efficient communication with team
  • Basic English communication skills

Skill, Competency (nice to have)

  • Experience with machine learning, deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow, PyTorch
  • Experience with AI model deployment through OpenVINO/ONNX on CPU/GPU/NPU computing platform
  • Multiple camera system and 3D vision research
  • Knowledge of processor/OS architecture of PC and phone
  • Embedded software development skills
  • Proficient English communication skills
  • Chinese communication skills
