We are hiring a Software Development Engineer to contribute to the development and integration of systemlevel software components across embedded devices running Android, Linux, and RTOSbased operating systems.

This is an individual contributor role focused on handson system engineering and embedded software development. You will work closely with crossfunctional teams to design, implement, debug, and optimize system components that enable reliable, highperformance device functionality across Lenovo platforms.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to the design, development, and integration of systemlevel software for embedded consumer and CE devices.

  • Develop and enhance OSlevel components, middleware, and services running on Android, Linux, or RTOS platforms.

  • Work on lowlevel software interactions involving device drivers, OS services, hardware interfaces, and middleware layers.

  • Debug complex, multilayer workflows spanning applications, system services, and underlying OS components.

  • Perform performance analysis and optimization related to stability, latency, memory usage, and system responsiveness.

  • Collaborate effectively with hardware, firmware, platform, and application teams to resolve systemlevel issues.

  • Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and technical problemsolving across functional boundaries.

  • Contribute to documentation and technical artifacts that support system integration and longterm maintainability.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of handson experience in system software or embedded software development.

  • Experience working on embedded or CE devices running Android, Linux, and/or RTOS.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

  • Strong programming experience in C++; experience with Rust is highly preferred.

  • Solid understanding of OS fundamentals, including processes, memory management, threading, IPC, and device I/O.

  • Proven ability to debug complex systemlevel issues across software layers.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in crossfunctional engineering environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing system or middleware components close to hardware.

  • Familiarity with Android system internals, Linux system programming, or RTOS environments.

  • Exposure to performance tuning, profiling tools, or systemlevel debugging on embedded platforms.

  • Experience working with hardware bringup teams or siliconspecific software components.

  • Background in consumer electronics, IoT, or embedded product development.

  • Interest in building reliable, maintainable, and wellarchitected system software.
