Description and Requirements

At Lenovo, you'll be part of a team that creates one of the world's largest portfolios of connected products, including PCs (ThinkPad, Yoga, Lenovo Legion), tablets, smartphones, and workstations. Our data center solutions provide the computing power driving change in business and society. We are also expanding into Gen AI offerings with applications like AI Now, Creator Zone, and Moto AI – to name a few.

This position reports to the Chief Technology Officer of PCSD and focuses on new emerging technology, leveraging the latest advances in audio & video codecs, wireless communications, and on-device enablement for generative AI.  As a member of the Architecture Review Board, you will lead detailed discussions of technology, compare against alternative solutions, and lead customer value analyses, ultimately optimizing customer value against technology cost, including software licensing and royalties. You will also influence key decision-makers, helping to inform decisions on which technologies and in what manner to include the new technologies in products.  The ideal candidate should have expertise in hardware and software architectures for both local and cloud systems, strong communication skills, and experience working across cultures and time zones. Collaboration with technical business leaders and global teams is crucial.

Multi-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (usability, engineering, product marketing, legal) and strategic solution partners to create innovative, customer-centric solutions that maximize the ROI for new technology investments.  Collaborate with key customers & internal team members to remove technical barriers and drive customer readiness for full platform adoption.

Innovation & problem solving: Consult on the most innovative technologies and impactful solutions for businesses through the use of our platform and technologies. Provide guidance in solving complex platform-related challenges, driving technical resolutions while building domain expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a key member in building a portfolio of impactful technologies
  • Review and suggest improvements to component technology intercepts and device level implementations for an extensive product portfolio
  • Analyze device performance requirements and match to technology implementations
  • Coach and technically lead engineering teams across different geographies
  • Innovate with patentable ideas and concepts within an iterative product-focused process
Basic Qualifications: 
  • 8+ years of experience in with system architecture, hardware and software.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience developing for communication sub systems and devices
  • 4+ years of experience with Android platforms
  • 4+ years of experience with Windows platforms

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience industry standard organizations
  • Experience with key standards for audio, video, and communication standards
  • Leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence and guide technical and non-technical partners in meaningful situations.
  • A track record of partnering with technology component provider and engineer teams to remove technical barriers and enhance ongoing readiness for large-scale platform adoption.
  • Experience in active listening and debating with a focus on finding the best solutions, even if it means shifting from original ideas.
  • Good communicator, capable of delivering complex technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
